In enterprise environments, where observability is a "new" idea and conservative approaches to developer and operations experiences are favored, introducing novelty is often seen as a risk. When confronting these sorts of headwinds, what's the best way to make progress? How can you position your proposals for the best chance at success? In this talk, I'll describe the key challenges teams need to overcome, and provide both specific and actionable advice to overcome those challenges. By attending this talk. you'll learn techniques that empower you to assess whether the enterprise environment you're in is ready for observability and, if so, how to make the strongest possible case for observability to the right people.

Michael is a Platform Engineer at Honeycomb.io. Has worked with various public and private cloud providers over for the past 8 years. Originally was deeply rooted in system administration but has since gained fondness for infrastructure as code and developer tooling.
