This conference is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.
All participants at o11ycon+honeycon are subject to these rules. As Honeycomb is hosting the event, these rules are enforced by the Honeycomb team (employees/administrators).
This code of conduct applies to all of the o11ycon+hnycon conference programs, including any areas of the conference virtual hosting platform, presentations, public channels, private channels, and direct messages, both online and off. Honeycomb retains the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the conference. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
We hope to create a conference environment in which diverse individuals can learn, collaborate and interact in a positive and affirming way. Examples of behavior that contributes to creating this sort of environment include:

If you have questions or concerns about these rules, message the conference team at team@o11ycon-hnycon.io
If you are being harassed by a member of our community, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please notify a Honeycomb Code of Conduct Officer via Direct Message in the conference’s Slack channel. Those officers will have “CoC” as part of their Slack username. We’ll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we’ll handle it as respectfully as possible. You won’t be asked to confront anyone and we won’t tell anyone who you are.
This code of conduct applies to our conference, but if you are being harassed by a conference participant outside our conference, we still want to know about it. We will take all good-faith reports of harassment by our participants seriously. This includes harassment outside our spaces and harassment that took place at any point in time. The Honeycomb team reserves the right to exclude people from the o11ycon+hnycon conference based on their past behavior, including behavior outside of our spaces and behavior towards people who are not participating in the conference.
In order to protect conference staff, we reserve the right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith. Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be deleted or ignored without response.
Every code of conduct violation report will be treated with seriousness and care. If a participant’s immediate safety and security are threatened, an individual Honeycomb employee may take any action that they deem appropriate, up to and including temporarily banning the offender from the conference. In less urgent situations, the Honeycomb team will issue a warning shared with the offender privately. Whatever the resolution, the decision of the Honeycomb team involved in a violation case will be considered final.
We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety of our conference participants or the general public. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, we may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the conference and identification of the participant as a harasser to other participants. At the discretion of the Honeycomb team or by request, one or more of the parties involved may request to discuss the violation and how to avoid similar situations in the future.
