OpenTelemetry is a popular open source, cloud-native observability framework with more than 900 active contributors from over 200 organizations. OpenTelemetry components and libraries can be used to instrument, generate, collect, and export telemetry data for analysis to understand your application and infrastructure behavior. OpenTelemetry provided trace data stability earlier this year. Now project contributors are enhancing metrics support in OpenTelemetry. This means the OpenTelemetry data model and components including the Collector and language libraries (APIs and SDKs) are being extended. Full interoperability with Prometheus, a core pillar of metrics support with OpenTelemetry is also in development. Join in for this session to learn about what we’re building to provide full metrics support and ensure interoperability with Prometheus metrics.
